Taylorsville offers strong academic as well as athletic programs.
Several options are available to students including a vocational course of study with Vo Tech or Ag Production classes available, and Mississippi Cooperative Education program as a complement to either course of study. There is a strong FFA organization, show choir, art classes, DECA, and a variety of clubs and community service opportunities.
Mississippi Department of Education (MDE) has recognized T'ville High School for meeting or exceeding Adequate Yearly Progress in Math and English, as well as other academic indicators for the 2004-5 school year, and reports that student achievement at T'ville High School has been accelerated. THS principal Jeff Duvall accepted an achievement award from MDE on behalf of students and staff.
Taylorsville is well known for its athletic traditions and has a proud history of championship teams.
Sports offered at the high school are: football, baseball, boys and girls basketball, softball, fast pitch, boys and girls track, tennis, and cheerleading. Taylorsville has produced state championship teams in football, baseball, cheerleading and track.
Mississippi's Secretary of State Eric Clark is a Taylorsville High School graduate and valedictorian. Jason Campbell, also a Taylorsville graduate, was Auburn's quarterback and is now with the Washington Redskins.

Students at the Smith County Adult Education Center located in the the old National Guard Armory in Taylorsville receive individualized
instruction to meet their own needs by Merry Beth Tigert, adult education Basic Skills instructor.
Jones County Junior College provides
a valuable service for the people of Smith County. An Adult Education Center is located in the old national guard armory on Hiway 28 East of Taylorsville. Adult Education teacher is Merry Beth Tigert of Laurel. Enrollment continues to increase as citizens become aware of the services provided by the center.Among available services are GED preparation, work skills upgrades, and pre-employment preparation.
